HOUSTON — A former clinician with Houston Circle of Hope claims she worked between 50 to 60 hours per week without overtime pay.

Quachea Thomas, on behalf of herself and others similarly situated filed a complaint March 3 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Houston Circle of Hope Services (HCHS) Inc., alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Thomas worked for HCHS as a rehab clinician. She alleges that she often worked 50 to 60 hours per week and has a time keeping system that includes "billable" and "non-billable" hours. Thomas claims that HCHS only paid for billable time which included time spent with clients and did not cover time spent on travel or doing paperwork. She alleges that just during one pay period alone from September of 2019, she was not paid for at least  29.5 hours of overtime. Thomas also claims she was demoted for complaining about the pay discrepancies.

Thomas seeks monetary relief, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by David Moulton of Bruckner Burch PLLC in Houston.
