TYLER — A man is claiming a collection agency illegally reported his false debt to Experian and Equifax.
Amie Rogers filed a compliant March 18 in the Tyler Division of the Eastern District of Texas against Hunter Warfield Inc., and Balfour Beatty Communities LLC alleging violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act and Texas Debt Collection Act.
Rogers alleges in his complaint he sent a notice to vacate his apartment to Balfour Beatty Communities on Oct. 31, 2018. He claims that despite moving out by a Dec. 23, 2018, deadline to allow for new renters to move in, he was falsely charged $527.03 for January 2019 rent, late fees and lost his $100 security deposit. Rogers alleges Hunter reported the false billing to Experian and Equifax credit reports.
Rogers seeks monetary relief, trial by jury and all other proper relief. He is represented by Shawn Jaffer of The Shawn Jaffer Law Firm in Frisco.
