Man claims debt collector made at least 21 harassing calls to his cell phone

BEAUMONT — A man cliams a debt collection company harassed him with at least 21 calls to his cell phone despite his asking the calls cease.  

Joseph Lewis filed a complaint March 16 in the Beaumont Division of the Eastern District of Texas against Rushmore Service Center LLC alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Telephone Consumer Protection Act and Texas Debt Collection Act. 

Lewis has an outstanding debt to First Premier Bank that Rushmore was attempting to collect. He alleges that in January of 2020, he began to receive calls from Rushmore on his cell phone. He claims that despite asking them to stop the calls, Rushmore continued to call his cell phone at least 21 times. 

Lewis seeks monetary relief of at least $500 per call, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Nathan Volheim and Taxiarchis Hatzidimitriadis of The Sulaiman Law Group in Lombard, Illinois.
