Woman who fell through her apartment floor sues complex owners claiming negligence

GALVESTON — A woman who fell through the floor of her apartment and suffered injuries is claiming the negligence of the apartment owners. 

Stefanie Gilmore filed a complaint March 16 in the Galveston County District Court against American Property Owners & Managers Inc., Gary and Rita Brummer doing business as Terraces at 2602 also known as Ashton Park Apartments alleging negligence. 

Gilmore alleges in her complaint that while waling inside her apartment which she was renting from the defendants on May 23, 2018, the floor caved in and caused her to fall. Gilmore claims her foot went through the floor and into the below neighbor's ceiling and suffered injuries. She also claims she notified the defendants about the condition of her floor prior to the accident without any action being taken. 

Gilmore seeks monetary relief of over $1 million, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Jorge Gomez of The Gomez Law Firm in Houston.
