HOUSTON — Three Valero Refining workers who suffered burn injuries from a burst of boiling water while working on piping at the company's Houston facility are claiming negligence.

Alejandro Bermudez, Luis Guerrero-Chavez and Homero Tamez filed a complaint April 1 in the Harris County District Court against Valero Refining-Texas LP alleging negligence.

The plaintiffs were working at Valero's Houston facility on July 10, 2019 to install metal casing over piping near a 40 foot tank. They allege that while working on the pipe, they suffered burn injuries from a sudden burst of boiling water. The plaintiffs claim Valero knew of a water pressure issue with the tank prior to the alleged accident but told them it was safe to work in the area.

The plaintiffs seek monetary relief between $500,000 and $1 million, interest and all other just relief. They are represented by Clay Miller and Robert Wolf of Miller Weisbrod LLP in Dallas.
