Pfizer, Wyeth face suit by woman alleging hormone replacement drug caused her breast cancer

HOUSTON — Pfizer and others are facing a suit by a woman claiming her breast cancer was caused by taking Prempo.

Pauline Moncibaiz and Rick Moncibaiz filed a complaint April 1 in the Harris County District Court against Pfizer Inc., Wyeth LLC and Wyeth Holdings LLC alleging strict liability, breach of implied warranty of merchantability and negligence. 

Moncibaiz took Prempo for hormone replacement from 2008 through 2018. She was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma breast cancer in 2018 and alleges the Prempo caused her cancer. Moncibaiz claims after being diagnosed, she discovered research from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute and American Medical Association published in July of 2002 which demonstrated woman who used Prempo were at increased risk of breast cancer, heart disease, stroke and pulmonary embolism. 

Moncibaiz seeks monetary relief, trial by jury, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Charles Houssiere, III and Randal Kauffman of Houssiere, Durant & Houssiere LLP in Houston.
