HOUSTON — An African-American male and former elementary school assistant principal with the Spring Independent School District is alleging he faced discrimination and retaliation.

Marcus LeFlore filed a complaint April 24 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas  against Spring Independent School District alleging Civil Rights violations.

LeFlore served as an assistant principal for the Spring Independent School District at Ponderosa Elementary School. He alleges that the school's principal, Shanna Swearingen, a white female, discriminated against African-American males and treated them differently than non-African-American, female staff at the school. LeFlore also claims he faced discrimination and was fired due to a disability that required him to need time off and limited some of his job duties.

LeFlore seeks monetary relief, trial by jury, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Terry Gorman of The Gorman Law Firm PLLC in Austin.
