GALVESTON — A Houston man is suing Carnival after suffering an injury from an alleged fall on a stairwell while a passenger on the cruise line's Carnival Valor.

Robert Blake filed a complaint May 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas Galveston Division against Carnival Corporation doing business as Carnival Cruise Line alleging negligence.

Blake was a passenger on the defendant's Carnival Valor on May 8, 2018, that sailed out of Galveston. He alleges that on the third day of sailing, he tripped and fell while using the stairwell. Blake claims he suffered injury to his knee due to Carnival's negligence in properly maintaining and inspecting the stairwell which he had to use due to the ship's elevators being out of service.

Blake seeks monetary relief of more than $75,000, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Jack Ivey of The Ivey Law Firm PC in Houston.
