“A fiery horse with the speed of light, a cloud of dust, and a hearty, 'Hi yo, Silver!' The Lone Ranger! With his faithful Indian companion Tonto, the daring and resourceful masked rider of the plains led the fight for law and order in the early west. Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear.”

That’s how every episode of The Lone Ranger began, and each one ended with one of the hero’s beneficiaries asking, “Who was that masked man?”

Now, in these thrilling days of covid, everyone wears a mask or is mercilessly shamed for not wearing one: “Who was that unmasked man?” the Karens demand to know. “Why doesn’t someone arrest him and send him to a reeducation camp?”

What is the nonmasker to do? Who will defend him?

State Rep. Briscoe Cain will. “Get fined for not wearing a mask? I will gladly represent you,” Cain tweeted on Twitter. “FOR FREE.”

At that reasonable price, Cain is likely to get some takers now that Gov. Greg Abbott has issued a statewide mask mandate.

“It’s OK to support choosing to wear a mask to protect others from your respiratory system while at the same time opposing government force making people wear a mask,” Cain tweeted last week.

In other words, whether you’re a masker or a non-masker, have respect for fellow citizens who question authority, especially when authority appears to be utterly irrational.

For instance, why are the healthy being quarantined – instead of, or in addition to, the sick? And how does wearing a porous mask that can’t possibly prevent the inhalation or exhalation of a microscopic virus protect the wearer or anyone else?

Are we all supposed to wear ineffective, potentially harmful masks just because they make ignorant and easily frightened citizens feel safer?

Apparently so. As a result, undeluded and defiant Texans are now at risk of being arrested for refusing to participate in the mask hysteria. If and when they are, they can call Briscoe Cain for FREE representation.

Hi yo, Briscoe!
