HOUSTON – A woman has filed a complaint against Harris County, claiming her fall down the stairs of a community center in the county was the result of defective stairs.
Aaron Park filed the complaint Aug. 16 in Harris County District Court, alleging negligence by the County.
Park, a resident of Hockley, was at Juergen's Hall Community Center in Harris County on Dec. 6, 2018, the complaint said. She alleges that as she was exiting the community center, she "suddenly and unexpectedly" tripped and fell down the stairs.
Park, who was 69 years old at the time, alleges that as a result of her fall, she suffered "mental anguish, physical impairment, disfigurement, loss of wages and benefits, loss of wage-earning capacity," as well as loss of "capacity to perform household services," the complaint said.
Additionally, Park alleges that Harris County is negligent for "creating" and "erecting" stairs that were defective and failing to warn of a dangerous condition while allowing the condition to exist, the complaint said. She also alleges Harris County did not "exercise reasonable care" to remedy the risk that caused her to fall and suffer injuries. She further alleges that she has incurred medical, hospital and drug expenses as a result of her injuries from falling down the stairs.
Park seeks monetary relief, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Jeffrey Todd of The Todd Law Group PLLC, in Houston.
