Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP issued the following announcement on Nov. 17.
Lewis Brisbois is pleased to announce the addition of Laura Funk to its Dallas office as a partner in its Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice. Ms. Funk brings to Lewis Brisbois more than a decade of experience in litigation and compliance.
Ms. Funk joins Lewis Brisbois from Conifer Health Solutions, a healthcare business solutions organization and subsidiary of Tenet Healthcare. In her role as Conifer’s privacy officer, she served as its subject matter expert on the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, as well as on the applicability of the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation and the California Consumer Privacy Act. In addition, Ms. Funk developed privacy and compliance-related training, education, policies, and procedures for the organization. Certified in healthcare privacy compliance and healthcare compliance, she also led a team of investigations officers who were responsible for investigating a wide array of compliance and privacy incidents.

Ms. Funk is a member of the Health Care Compliance Association and the International Association of Privacy Professionals. A graduate of the University of Michigan and the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, she is admitted to practice in Texas.
