SAN ANTONIO – When Bexar County snubbed a statewide opioid settlement back in June, it placed all its eggs, all 1 billion of them, in the hands of its attorneys, one of which is Martin Phipps, who was arrested yesterday.

According to San Antonio Express News, Phipps was arrested on suspicion of telephone harassment following a complaint involving a woman from a previous romantic relationship.

Just last month, Phipps partner, T.J. Mayes, bailed on him, trashing him on Twitter before leaving the firm.

“I resigned from the Phipps firm on 1/11 after I became convinced without a shred of doubt that Martin Phipps is a crook and a serial abuser of women,” Mayes Tweeted. “I turned over appropriate documents to the relevant regulatory agencies.”

Phipps partnered with Mayes, the former chief of staff for Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolf, back in October.
