HOUSTON — A man is alleging he slipped on liquid detergent that had spilled on the floor of a Houston 99 Cents Only store.

Carmen Herrera filed a complaint Feb. 25 in Harris County District Court against 99 Cents Only Stores LLC and 99 Cents Only Stores Texas Inc.

According to his complaint, Herrera was shopping at the 99 Cents Only store on Bellaire Boulevard in Houston on Feb. 22, 2020. He claims that while he was walking down one of the aisles, he suddenly slipped and fell on "a puddle of liquid soap detergent" that was on the floor. Herrera claims she suffered "serious" injuries, mental anguish, impairment and disability as well as has incurred medical expenses.

He alleges 99 Cents Only allowed the condition that "posed an unreasonable risk" of harm to exist at its store where customers walked. Herrera also alleges the store knew or "reasonably should have known" that the dangerous condition existed and failed to warn or make the area "reasonably safe."

Herrera seeks monetary relief, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Joshua Leske of Husain Law + Associates PC in Houston.
