HOUSTON — A owner and management company of a Houston apartment complex is facing a suit after a  man was allegedly attacked in the parking lot of the complex and died from his injuries.

Khari Greene, Individually and as representative of the Estate of Kavonte Greene, filed a complaint Feb. 22 in Harris County District Court against 2851 LLC and Roscoe Properties GP LLC  alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Kavonte Greene was in the parking lot of the Oaks of Westchase apartment complex on Wallingford Drive in Houston on Nov. 17, 2020. The plaintiff alleges that an assailant attacked Kavonte Greene and caused "grievous bodily injury."

He alleges in the complaint that paramedics arrived on the scene at the apartment complex but were not able to save Greene who died from his injuries. The plaintiff claims the defendants failed to make their property "reasonably safe," failed to hire an adequate number of security personnel and failed to make sure its security systems "were in proper order."

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief or more than $1 million, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by M. Paul Skrananek of Pierce Skrabanek PLLC in Houston.
