HOUSTON — A delivery worker claims he suffered injuries after falling over an unsecured manhole cover outside a Houston Denny's.

Lazerick Jackson filed a complaint March 3 in Harris County District Court against Denny's Inc., and Texas Pearl Inc., alleging negligence.

Jackson alleges that while making a delivery at the Denny's restaurant on Southwest Freeway in Houston on July 11, 2019, he stepped on a loose, unsecured manhole cover which caused him to fall into a hole. Jackson claims he suffered  "serious" injuries as a result of Denny's negligence in failing to inspect its premises and keep it in a reasonably safe condition.

He also claims Denny's is negligent for failing to correct the hazard and warn invitees of the dangerous condition. He further claims Denny's failed to implement safety polices and procedures or train its employees to make sure its premises is safe.

Jackson seeks monetary relief between $100,000 and $250,000, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Eduardo Domenech and Dylan Clewis of Crim & Villalpando PC in Houston.
