HOUSTON – A Houston attorney has filed a defective products lawsuit against the company who sold him door and window products.
Seeking up to $1 million in damages, Michael Ramsey filed suit against Rehme Custom Doors & Lighting on May 4 in Harris County District Court.
According to the lawsuit, sometime in November 2018 Ramsey moved into a Houston home. As part of the home’s construction, the residence had Rehme products installed by an authorized local installer.
Nearly two years later, Ramsey began to notice problems with the Rehme door assemblies. After a “cursory” investigation, Rehme asserted the problems were related to installation issues, the suit states.
“All of the exterior windows and doors are suffering from the same rapid deterioration due to a manufacturing defect,” the suit states. “Rehme is aware of this defect but has alleged installation problems as the cause of damage in an effort to shield the company from its responsibilities under the warranty.
“The defective windows and doors cannot be repaired, they must be replaced. This significant cost is one that should be borne by Rehme under the product warranty.”
Ramsey is accusing Rehme of deceptive trade practices.
Beaumont attorney Jason Byrd, who works with Ramsey, represents him.
