HOUSTON — A man who slipped on a piece of broken glass on the floor at a Houston restaurant and suffered serious injuries is claiming negligence.

Barry Esene filed a complaint May 6 in Harris County District Court against Bisou River Oaks District LP known as Bisou alleging negligence.

Esene claims that while at the Bisou restaurant on Westheimer Road in Houston on May 25, 2019, he was injured due to "a large piece of broken glass" that was on the walkway. Esene alleges in his complaint that he suffered "grievous" injuries including a facial laceration, broken nose, fractured eye lids, head and hand injuries, chest and shoulder pain, sore lips as well as anxiety.

He claims Bisou was negligent for allowing the floor to "become slippery with a large piece of broken glass" and failed to warn of the dangerous condition. Esene further claims Bisou failed to inspect and maintain their premises and failed to provide "adequate lighting."

Esene seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million and all other just relief. He is represented by Attorney Emmanuel Nwuli in Houston.
