HOUSTON — A woman claims she slipped at a Houston El Rancho Supermercado and suffered serious injuries.

Nancy Payan filed a complaint May 12 in Harris County District Court against El Rancho Supermercado and Austin Ranch Market LLC doing business as El Rancho Supermercado alleging premises liability.

Payan was a customer at the El Rancho Supermercado on North Freeway in Houston on June 3, 2020, according to her complaint. She alleges that she slipped and fell "as a result of an unreasonably dangerous condition" and suffered injuries.

She alleges El Rancho Supermercado failed to properly maintain their premises and eliminate the dangerous condition. Payan also alleges the store failed to train or supervise their employees, or give "adequate warnings" to customers or inspect its premises for hazardous conditions.

Payan seeks monetary relief between $100,000 and $250,000, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Sofia Bruera of The Bruera Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
