HOUSTON – A woman is claiming the negligence of Joe V's Smart Shop after slipping on an unknown substance while shopping at the  store and suffering injuries.

Gloria Morua filed a complaint May 25 in Harris County District Court against H-E-B LP doing business as Joe V's Smart Shop alleging negligence and premises liability.

Morua alleges in her suit that while at Joe V's Smart Shop on Feb. 17, 2020, and walking down the aisle, she slipped and fell on "an unknown substance" and suffered injuries. She claims that defendant failed to maintain the walking areas in the grocery store and failed to properly train their employees in maintaining the floor and pathways of the store.

Morua also claims the defendants failed to warn of the hazard and disregarded the safety of customers by not making sure the "well-traveled area" of the store was safe.

Morua seeks monetary relief, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Chad Pinkerton and Jorge Garay of The Pinkerston Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
