HOUSTON — A woman who fell on a defective wooden deck at a Houston seafood restaurant and suffered injuries is claiming negligence.

Alexander Okolie filed a complaint June 1 in Harris County District Court against Aloha Richmond LLC doing business as Sam's Boat, Aloha Restaurant Group LP and Aloha Management GP LLC alleging negligence and premises liability.

Okolie claims in her suit that while at Sam's Boat on Richmond Avenue in Houston on June 4, 2019, she tripped and fell on a "detached piece of wood on the wooden deck." She alleges she suffered serious injuries as a result of her fall in addition to mental anguish, physical impairment, lost wages and has incurred medical expenses.

She alleges the defendants faild to monitor the deck's condition or make any needed repairs and failed to warn of the hazard. Okolie further alleges the defendants should have known of the "unreasonable risk or harm" of the defective wooden deck to the general public.

Okolie seeks monetary relief, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Rasheed Taylor of The Taylor Law Firm in Houston.
