HOUSTON – Attorney Randy Sorrels and his wife, Alexandra Farias-Sorrels, are suing Victoria Painting for allegedly failing to follow the “basic steps” of the painting process.

Seeking up to $250,000 in damages, the suit was filed June 15 in Harris County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, Sorrels, a past Texas Bar president, hired Corbel Custom Homes to remodel his River Oaks home back in November 2019. Corbel then entered into a contract with Victoria Painting to paint the interior and exterior of the home.

The couple claims that they were unaware that Victoria Painting “was a sub-standard painting company that lacked the skill to paint a home of the caliber of the Sorrels’ home.”

“Indeed, Victoria Painting had a duty to paint the home in a good and workmanlike manner, but miserably violated that duty,” the suit states. “Instead, Victoria Painting failed to follow basic steps that are involved in the painting process, including adequately prepping and priming the various surfaces throughout the home.”

The Sorrels are suing for actual damages, loss of use, lost wages, mental anguish and attorney fees.

They are representing themselves.
