H

Clark Hill PLC issued the following announcement on June 16.

International law firm Clark Hill PLC announced on June 16 that Richard Tye has joined the firm as Of Counsel and Matthew Lovell has joined as Senior Attorney, both in the Tax & Estate Planning practice in Clark Hill’s San Antonio office. Their practice will focus on comprehensive estate, tax, and business planning strategies constructed to maximize wealth accumulation for clients and their future generations.

“We are delighted to welcome Dick and Matt to our team in the San Antonio office,” noted Marty Roos, Member in Charge of the firm’s San Antonio office and Co-Business Unit Leader of the Tax and Estate Planning group. “As San Antonio continues to be among the fastest-growing cities in the U.S., there is increased demand for private wealth and tax planning services for clients. I’ve known Dick for years, and his integrity and knowledge of sophisticated tax and estate planning strategies will be a major asset to our clients in San Antonio and across Clark Hill offices.”

Tye and Lovell will join the Clark Hill tax and estate planning team in offering businesses, families, and individuals guidance in navigating complex, challenging regulations and laws, covering international, national, state, and local compliance, planning, and advocacy. Their practice in the Tax & Estate Planning group will focus on wills, trusts and estates, and gift taxation issues. The addition of Tye and Lovell brings the number of estate planners in Clark Hill’s San Antonio office to 11 – the largest Tax & Estate Planning practice in San Antonio, and probably one of the largest in Texas.

“When considering this next stage in my career I looked at a number of options, and Clark Hill overwhelmingly was the best opportunity,” said Tye. “I’ve known Marty, as well as other Clark Hill attorneys for years, and am excited by the opportunity to work with this collegial, talented group.  The firm’s national footprint was an important consideration and will provide an opportunity to better serve my clients.”

Tye received his B.S. and D.V.M. degrees from Texas A&M University and his J.D. from Baylor University and also earned an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University. He is Board Certified in Estate Planning & Probate Law and Tax Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and is admitted to practice in the state courts of Texas and New York and in the U.S. Tax Court. He is a past president of the San Antonio Estate Planners Council and currently serves as president of the Baylor Law Alumni Association.

As a San Antonio native, Lovell has established a network built on long-standing community, business, and legal relationships. He received his B.S. from the University of Richmond and his J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio. He is admitted to the Texas bar and is licensed to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas. Lovell is a member of the San Antonio Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas and the College of the State Bar of Texas, and the San Antonio Estate Planners Council.
