HOUSTON — A woman alleges she suffered serious injuries after tripping on a gap in the sidewalk at a Houston apartment complex.

Morena Gl Li-Siu filed a complaint July 2 in Harris County District Court against Circle at Park Point, Village at Copperfield LLC doing business as Property Owner LLC, Aimco Properties LP and Aimco-GP Inc., alleging premises liability and negligence.

The plaintiff claims that while at the Circle at Point Park in Houston on July 19, 2019, she tripped and fell on a "spacing/gap" in the sidewalk pavement and fell to the ground. She alleges she suffered "serious bodily injuries" that caused her to incur medical expenses and lost earnings. The plaintiff also alleges she has suffered aggravation of prior injuries as well as mental anguish.

She claims the defendants were negligent for failing to maintain the area in a reasonably safe condition and that through their employees and agents "had actual knowledge of the danger." The plaintiff alleges that the defendants also failed to properly train and supervise its agents and to warn of the gap in the sidewalk pavement.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of more than $250,000, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by James Burkhalter of Smith & Hassler in Houston.
