HOUSTON — A man is suing a Houston auto repair shop alleging they made negligent modifications and repairs to his vehicle and failed to inform him about his vehicle's status and location.

Abel Yzaguirre filed a complaint July 12 in Harris County District Court against U Do It Auto alleging negligence and violation of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act and other claims.

Yzaguirre claims in his suit that he took his 2013 Ford F150 to the U Do It Shop for an engine rebuild on Sept. 29, 2020, and paid $7,772 up front. He alleges that for six months, he visited the shop multiple times for a status update and found his vehicle "was no longer in possession of U Do It Auto" and after filing a police report, the car was returned to the shop.

Yzaguirre further claims that in May of 2021, while his vehicle was in the care of U Do It Auto, the catalytic converters were stolen and that a new repair shop estimated his car would need $13,654.28 to fix the damage caused by U Do It Auto. He alleges the defendant's negligence caused him to miss work, to be without a vehicle and to incur repair costs.

Yzaguirre seeks monetary relief of less than $250,000, interest, trial by jury and all other proper relief. He is represented by Attorney Giovanni Padilla in Katy.
