HOUSTON — A former Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center patient claims the hospital allowed her to develop a pressure injury which later became infected, while in the hospital for heart surgery.

Gloria Mosier filed a complaint July 23 in Harris County District Court against Memorial Hermann Health System doing business as Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center alleging medical malpractice.

Mosier sought treatment at Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center on Aug. 5, 2019 due to experiencing chest pains, according to her complaint. She alleges that she underwent cardiac catherization, was admitted and then underwent coronary bypass surgery.

Mosier claims during her admission to the hospital, she suffered a sacral-area pressure injury. She further claims that after admittance to two other facilities, she continued to require wound care and that by Nov. 19, 2019, the pressure injury had grown to Stage IV and that she developed klbsiella and pseudomonas and acute osteomyelitis and required antibiotics.

Mosier alleges she still requires treatment for the pressure injury and receives home health care and claims the negligence of Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center for failing to prevent and adequately treat the pressure injury. She also claims the defendants did not have adequately trained and competent staff to provide her with proper nursing care.

Mosiser seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Mary Green of Pierce Skrabanek PLLC in Houston.
