HOUSTON — A Houston pizzeria and bar is facing a negligence claim after a customer slipped on a wet substance in the bathroom and bar and suffered serious injuries.

Albert Giles filed a complaint Aug. 6 in Harris County District Court against Ram Rock LLC doing business as Spanky's Homemade Pizza & Bar and Restcon LTD alleging liability.

Giles alleges in his complaint that while at the Spanky's Homemade Pizza and Bar on July 25, 2020, located on Telephone Road in Houston, he slipped on a "wet substance on the floor" as he entered the restroom.

He claims as a result of the fall, he suffered "serious and permanent" injuries and incurred medical treatment expenses as well as lost wages and mental anguish. Giles alleges that the defendants did not keep their premises reasonably safe for customers, that they failed to inspect and maintain their premises and allowed a dangerous condition to exist for "an unreasonable period of time."

He also alleges that the defendants did not enforce polices for inspecting the premises for any dangerous conditions, properly train and supervise their employees or have adequate warning of the danger.

Giles seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by John Kahn, Jr., and Jennifer Kahn of The Kahn Law Firm PC in Pearland.
