HOUSTON — A woman who slipped on a mopped floor at a deli in Kingwood and suffered injuries is claiming negligence.

Myesha Starks filed a complaint Aug. 25 in Harris County District Court against Deli Management Inc., doing business as Jason's Deli alleging liability and negligence.

Starks alleges in her suit that she was at Jason's Deli on Kingwood Drive in Kingwood on Feb. 13, 2020. She alleges that she slipped and fell on a floor that was being mopped and suffered serious injuries. Starks claims Jason's Deli was negligent for failing to properly inspect and maintain the flooring area and for failing to give adequate warning about the unsafe condition on the floor.

She also claims the defendant's negligence for failing to remove the liquid that caused her fall and for not having proper lighting in the area or discovering the hazard in a reasonable time. Starks alleges she has suffered pain, physical impairment, mental anguish, disfigurement, loss of earnings and incurred medical treatment expenses as a result of her fall.

Starks seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Joseph Onwuteaka of The Law Offices of Joseph Onwuteaka PC in Houston.
