Woman claims non functioning lighting in apartment complex stairwell caused her fall

HOUSTON — A woman claims non functioning lighting in the stairwell of a Houston apartment complex caused her fall. 

Mary Lovings filed a complaint Aug. 22 in Harris County District Court against Catalon Apartments, Cantalon Housing Partners LTD and Alpha-Barnes Real Estate Services LLC alleging neglience. 

Lovings claims that she suffered serious and permanent bodily injuries on Aug. 23, 2019, when she fell down the stairs at the Cantalon Apartments on Queenston Boulevard in Houston. 

She alleges that the lighting in the stairwell was not functioning and that the defendants' employees negligently allowed the creation and continued existence of the dangerous condition to exist on their property. Lovings claims as a result of her fall, she suffered pain, disability, mental anguish, embarrassment, impairment, disfigurement and lost earnings. 

She also claims she incurred medical treatment expenses due to her injuries. 

Lovings seeks monetary relief of less than $250,000, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Adam Criaco of Criaco & Associates in Houston.
