HOUSTON — A worker who was injured after falling eight feet to the ground while fixing a passenger boarding bridge at Bush International is claiming negligence.

Abdul Conteh filed a complaint Aug. 30 in Harris County District Court against Total Airport Services LLC, Spirit Airlines Inc., and JBT Aerotech Corporation alleging negligence.

Conteh was working for JBT Aerotech and/or Total Airport Services at Bush International/Houston Airport on Oct. 14, 2019, according to his suit. He claims that as he was using a ten-foot ladder to work on the "passenger boarding bridge potable water cabinet" that was mounted to the service stairs on the bridge, the operator of the bridge began moving the unit away from the aircraft.

Conteh alleges he fell off the ladder at a height of eight feet and suffered significant injuries that required multiple surgeries and suffered impairment, lost wages and incurred medical expenses. He claims the defendants allowed their employees to engage in hazardous "and otherwise dangerous" practices and that they failed to train, supervise or retain competent employees to properly operate the passenger boarding bridge.

Conteh seeks monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by John Oronsaye and Omosede Oronsaye of O.V. Oronsaye & Associates in Houston.
