HOUSTON – Anyone considering hiring Frederick McGuire to file a lawsuit on their behalf might also want to consider the attorney has now sued two of his former clients for posting bad reviews of him online.

As previously reported, McGuire sued a former client last month after she posted a one star review of him on Google. McGuire had left the client with only $825.27 of a $7,500 settlement.

On Sept. 8, McGuire sued another client, Alexis DeBose, for posting an unfavorable review of him online.

According to the lawsuit, McGuire provided legal services for DeBose for insurance proceeds involving an auto accident last April. The case settled for $8,500.

DeBose ended up with $2,782 while McGuire reaped with more than $4,000 of the settlement proceeds. Medical providers received what was left ($1,708).

On March 12, DeBose posted a review of McGuire’s law firm online, complaining about the service she received, among other things, while she was a client.

“This law firm is unbelievable!” the review reads. “I recently had a car accident last April and decided to give this law firm a chance and boy when I tell you they are full of it! That’s exactly what I mean!”

McGuire is accusing DeBose of defamation and seeks $1.2 million in damages from his former client.

Records show the Texas Bar has taken three disciplinary actions against McGuire in the past decade.

Filed in Harris County District Court, case No. 2021-57751.
