Woman alleges slip, fall on pumpkin remnants at Houston Home Depot

HOUSTON — A woman alleges she slipped and fell on remnants of a pumpkin at a Houston Home Depot. 

Yeni Romero filed a complaint Sept. 23 in Harris County District Court against The Home Depot Inc., and Home Depot U.S.A., Inc., alleging negligence. 

According to her suit, Romero was at the Home Depot on Market Street in Houston on Sept. 26, 2019. She alleges that as she was walking down an aisle, she slipped and fell on the "remains of a pumpkin" that was on the floor and suffered injuries including disability, impairment and mental anguish. 

Romero also claims she incurred medical charges and expenses as a result of the accident. She alleges Home Depot's negligence for failing to maintain its premises, warn of the dangerous condition and for failing to properly train its employees. 

Romero also alleges Home Depot failed to implement and enforce proper policies and procedures. 

Romero seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Michael Mendoza of The Paxton Law Firm in Houston.
