HOUSTON — A woman is claiming negligence after she slipped at a HEB store in Houston and suffered severe injuries.

Carmen Williams filed a complaint Sept. 23 in Harris County District Court against H.E.B., Inc., alleging negligence and premises liability.

Williams, according to her complaint, was at the HEB store on Louetta Road in Harris County on May 20, 2021. She alleges that she slipped and fell on a "slippery substance" and suffered severe injuries including physical and mental impairment, disfigurement, loss of wages and incurred medical expenses.

Williams claims the defendant's negligence for creating the hazard on its premises, failing to warn of the danger or make necessary safety inspections. She also claims the defendant failed to exercise "ordinary care and prudence" over the safety at its store.

Williams seeks monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by J. Moises Cedillos of the Cedillos Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
