HOUSTON — A patron who was attacked and beaten at a restaurant and bar in Katy is claiming the establishment's negligence.

Barry Bell filed a complaint Sept. 30 in Harris County District Court against RCI Holdings Inc., BMB Dining Services (Katy) Inc., doing business as Bombshells Restaurant and Bar (Katy) alleging negligence and premises liability.

Bell was dining at Bombshells on Katy Freeway in Katy on Aug. 15, 2021, according to his suit. He claims that he was attacked and beaten by two "unknown criminal assailants" and suffered injuries including physical impairment, mental anguish and incurred medical expenses.

Bell alleges that the defendants failed to provide adequate security at Bombshells despite a "well-documented" history of dangerous criminal activity in the area around the restaurant and bar.

He also alleges the defendants failed to warn patrons of the criminal activity in the area or properly train their staff on preventing and responding to dangerous activity on the premises.

Bell seeks monetary relief, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Joe Rodriguez of The Law Office of Joe Ray Rodriguez PC in Houston.
