HOUSTON — A Houston homeowner alleges the contractor he paid for his home renovations and repair abandoned the project.

Min Zhong filed a complaint Oct. 25 in Harris County District Court against Vermar LLC and Juan M. Wheeler also known as Juan M. Wheeler, Jr., alleging negligence, breach of contact, fraud and other claims.

Zhong contracted with the defendants for residential repair and renovation work at his home in Houston, according to his complaint. He alleges that he made "significant payments" to the defendants to start the work and that they failed to follow the architectural designs and "accepted residential construction standards."

Zhong further alleges that the defendants abandoned the job after only a short amount of time and failed to return to complete the work which has caused him to hire a new contractor to complete his home. He claims the defendants fraudulently misrepresented their liability and commercial general liability insurance as well as their skill and ability to complete the project. Zhong also claims he is entitled to recover the funds paid to the defendants and that they failed to exercise reasonable care and competence.

Zhong seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Derek Harkrider of The Harkrider Law Firm in Houston.
