HOUSTON — A Houston movie theater is facing a suit after a patron allegedly fell on stars due to insufficient lighting.

Mary Myles filed a complaint Nov. 9 in Harris County District Court against Star Cinema Grill, alleging premises liability and negligence.

According to Myles complaint, she was at the Star Cinema on Vintage Park Boulevard in Houston on July 15. She claims that she slipped and fell on stairs "due to insufficient lighting" and suffered severe injuries including physical disfigurement, mental anguish and incurred medical bills.

Myles alleges the lighting issue had existed long enough for Star Grill to know of the dangerous condition and failed to inspect the premises or warn of the dangerous condition. She further alleges Star Cinema "preceded with conscious indifference" to the rights and safety of others and that they had a duty to use ordinary care on their premises.

Myles seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest, trial by jury and all otehr just relief. She is represented by Roberto Cantu and Noah Horwitz of Roberts Markland LLP in Houston.
