HOUSTON — A woman who slipped in the food court at the Baybrook Mall is claiming negligence.

Charman Martin filed a complaint Nov. 17 in Harris County District Court against Baybrook Mall LLC alleging negligence and premises liability.

Martin was at the food court of the Baybrook Mall in Friendswood on June 8, 2020, according to her suit. She alleges that as she was walking through the food court, she slipped "on a substance," fell to the floor and suffered severe injuries.

Martin claims Baybrook Mall's negligence for failing to properly maintain its premises and failing to warn of the hazard. She also claims Baybrook Mall knew or reasonably should have known of the danger and did not make the condition reasonably safe. She further claims Baybrook Mall maintained its premises "in a reckless and careless manner." Martin alleges as a result of her slip and fall she suffered impairment, disfigurement, loss of earnings and incurred medical care expenses.

Martin seeks monetary relief of more than $74,000, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by  Adelyn Torres and Annie Basu of The Basu Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
