HOUSTON — A Harris County Metro Transit Authority bus passenger is claiming a driver closed the door on her hand and foot two years ago.

Melanie Harris Dennis filed a complaint Nov. 30 in Harris County District Court against Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County alleging negligence and other claims.

Harris claims in her suit that she was a passenger on Metro Transit Authority on Dec. 2, 2019. She alleges that as she was exiting the bus, the driver/operator closed the door on her foot and hand which caused her to fall backward.

Harris also alleges the fall caused her to suffer injuries to her lower back and that the defendant failed to keep a proper lookout for her safety as she exited the bus. She claims the defendant was also negligent in training and supervising its employee and that she also suffered lost wages and incurred medical treatment expenses as a result of the accident.

Harris seeks monetary relief of $35,000 or less, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Coby Arnsworth of The Arnsworth Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
