HOUSTON — A man robbed at gunpoint in a Houston parking garage is claiming the property owner's negligence.

Stanley McGee filed a complaint Dec. 2 in Harris County District Court against River Oaks Commerical LLC and others alleging negligence and premises liability.

McGee, according to his complaint, was at the River Oaks District on Westheimer Road in Houston on March 21, 2021. He alleges that as he walked backed to his vehicle, several gunmen approached him and robbed him at gunpoint. He further alleges the gunmen showed "obvious signs of aggression" while in the River Oaks District parking garage and "stalked" in the parking garage before the robbery incident took place.

McGee claims the defendants' negligence for failing to recognize the danger, failing to properly patrol the premises and for not hiring or utilizing security guards. He also claims the defendants did not properly supervise or train its employees, failed to have appropriate security measures on the property and knew or had reason to know of the risk of harm.

McGee seeks monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Chukwudi Egbuonu of The Law Offices of Chukwudi Egbuonu in Houston and Donale Evans of The Law Office of Donale Evans in Houston.
