Chilis customer allegedly slips on 'slick' surface at restaurant in Conroe, sues for $1M

HOUSTON — A Chili's customer alleges he slipped on a slick substance at its restaurant in Conroe. 

Donald Knight filed a complaint Dec. 6 in Harris County District Court against Chili's Grill & Bar, Brinker International Inc., and FCPT Holdings LLC.

Knight was eating at Chili's on Stoneside Road in Conroe on March 2, 2020.  He alleges that as he exited the men's restroom, he fell against the door and onto the ground because of a "slick spot" on the ground. He further alleges that as a result of the fall, he suffered a tear of his tendon and "severe and permanently disabling" injuries. 

Knight claims the defendants failed to maintain their premises and walking areas, failed to make sure the premises was safe and failed to have maintenance procedures to ensure the walk area was safe. He further claims the defendants failed to correct the hazard and that he also suffered impairment, lost wages and incurred medical treatment expenses as a result of the accident. 

Knight seeks monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, interest trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by
