HOUSTON — A woman claims she suffered severe illness and developed sepsis after eating at a Houston area Mexican restaurant.

Kim Hausler filed a complaint Dec. 14 in Harris County District Court against Zoila Inc., alleging negligence.

Hausler claims in her suit that after eating at the defendant's Hugo's Restaurant on July 25, 2020, she became ill. She alleges she suffered abdominal pain, tremors, mental impairment, vomiting and had to be hospitalized for a severe case of sepsis.

Hausler also alleges the defendant's negligence for failing to safely provide its services, failing to have adequate training for its employees, failing to institute proper safety policies and procedures as well as proper screening and supervision of its employees. She claims she also incurred medical expenses as a result of her illness.

Hausler seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Cesar Tavares and Emily Vechan of Williams Hart Boundas Easterby LLP in Houston.
