HOUSTON — A woman who slipped and fell at a Houston meat market is claiming negligence.

Florencia Elida Gonzalez filed a complaint Jan. 25 in Harris County District Court against La Michoacana Meat Market Inc., alleging negligence and premises liability.

Gonzalez was shopping at the La Michoacana Meat Market on Barker Express Road in Houston on Dec. 27, 2020. She alleges that while walking through the bakery, she slipped and fell on a piece of wood and "violently struck" the floor.

Gonzalez alleges that as a result of her fall, she suffered physical pain, disfigurement, out of pocket expenses and lost wages. She claims the defendant's negligence for failing to maintain its premises in a safe manner and failing to provide a warning of the hazard.

She also claims the defendant knew or reasonably should have known of the danger and that they failed to make the condition safe.

Gonzalez seeks monetary relief of $73,000, trial by jury, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Annie Basu and Adelyn Torres of The Basu Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
