HOUSTON — A worker alleges a defective cable manufactured by Honeywell caused his injuries while working on a wind turbine generator.

Ismael Martinez filed a complaint Jan. 25 in Harris County District Court against Honeywell International Inc., Honeywell Safety Products USA, Inc., Honeywell Building Solutions SES Corp., Wanzek Construction, Inc., Enel North America, Inc., and Enel North America X , Inc., alleging negligence.

Martinez alleges in his complaint that he fell during an inspection of a wind-turbine generator on Nov. 16, 2021, at the defendants' construction site. He alleges that the cable arrest device manufactured by Honeywell which he used failed to function.

He further claims as a result of his fall, he suffered a broken femur, fractured vertebrae, fractures to his skull, a traumatic brain injury, vision problems and other injuries. He alleges the defendants failed to warn of the dangerous condition, have proper safety equipment or to install adequate "fall protection" equipment.

Martinez claims the defendants also failed to properly maintain their equipment or prevent the incident. He also claims the defendants Honeywell failed to give adequate warnings about the danger of its equipment and that the cable arrest was defective.

Martinez seeks monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Jason Itkin, Noah Wexler and Ben Bireley of Arnold & Itkin LLP in Houston.
