HOUSTON — A construction worker claims he suffered injuries due to the negligence of a crane operator during a demolition project.

Carlos Domingo Canto filed a complaint  Dec. 31 in Harris County District Court against Arch-Con Corporation and John Doe alleging negligence.

Canto alleges in his complaint that he was working on a project to remove stairs at a Holiday Inn on West Loop South in Houston on March 5, 2020. He claims the Arch-Con used a crane to tear down the stairs without making sure the area was clear of workers which caused him to suffer injuries.

Canto also claims Doe's negligence for failing to use due care, failing to maintain proper control of the crane and for operating the crane in a reckless manner. Canto alleges Doe also failed to take proper evasive action and was being inattentive while operating the crane. He claims as a result of the accident he suffered pain, disfigurement, impairment, lost wages and incurred medical treatment expenses.

Canto seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Attorney Kraig Rushing in Houston.
