A Harris County lawsuit alleges that a woman's stay at the hotel was marred by a bed bug infestation, according to current Harris County District Court documents.

Taqiyyah Akbar has filed a complaint against Plano Joint Venture, which owns and runs a Red Roof Inns, Inc in Plano, Texas at 1820 N. Central Expressway.

According to Akbar's complaint, she sustained substantial losses as a consequence of the bed bug infestation.

"Plaintiff notified the hotel of the bed bug infestation and that she had been bitten by bed bugs while she was a guest of the hotel."

Akbar alleges to have woken up to itching and seeing bites all over her body on March 29, 2020.

The next day, she was examined by a doctor who verified she had bed bug bites and ordered medication.

Additionally, the lawsuit claims that her belongings were also exposed to the infestation.

Akbar's lawsuit also claims the hotel and its management failed to prevent the infestation despite being aware of its presence.

Akbar is seeking between $250,000 and $1 million in monetary damages as a result of the infestation, which includes the cost of her hotel room and the replacement of her personal belongings.
