Boaters claim golf courses' poorly lit bulkhead on Lake Conroe caused crash

Lawsuits

HOUSTON — Boaters claim a golf course's poorly lit bulkhead on Lake Conroe caused their boat crash.

Chris Farr, Lisa Farr, John Formanski and Shannon Formanski, individually and as next of friends of MF., J.F., and S.F., minors filed a complaint  May 2 in Harris County District Court against Walden Country Club Partnership LP and Walden Country Club LLC alleging negligence, premises liability and other claims.

According to their complaint, the plaintiffs were passengers in a boat owned and operated by the Chris Farr that was traveling on Lake Conroe on April 18, 2022. They allege that after having dinner with his family, Farr was driving the boat back home when it crashed into a peninsula/bulkhead on a poorly lit section of the Walden Country Club golf course.

The plaintiffs further claim that they were thrown about and suffered serious injuries with passenger John Formanski suffering a traumatic brain injury. They allege the defendants' negligence for failing to have safety precautions for boat traffic at night and failing to warn or instruct boat drivers about navigating around the bulkhead. The plaintiffs claim the defendants were also negligent for failing to properly inspect, maintain and repair the lights mounted around the perimeter of the golf course.

The plaintiffs seek monetary relief of more than $1 million, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. They are represented by Benny Agosto, Jr., and Ben Agosto, III of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner in Houston and Jacob Kara of The Karam Law Office PLLC in Sugar Land.
