HOUSTON — A man alleges he stepped into a huge hole in the loading area of a steel business and suffered injuries.

Walter Randall Ray filed a complaint May 9 in Harris County District Court against AAA Flame Cut Steel LLC and AAA Flame Cut Steel Inc., alleging liability and negligence.

According to his complaint, Ray was at AAA Flame Cut Steel on Judiway in Houston on Oct. 1, 2020, to pick up materials. He alleges he was directed to drive his vehicle to the loading location and was told to wait by his vehicle while they retrieved his order. Ray claims as he turned back to his vehicle, he stepped into a large hole in the ground and suffered injuries to his knee.

He alleges the defendant knew or should have known of the dangerous condition and failed to keep the ground free of hazards. Ray also alleges AAA failed to use ordinary care in hiring, supervising and training its employees and did not provide any warnings about the hazard. He claims as a result of the defendant's negligence, he also suffered impairment, disfigurement and incurred medical treatment expenses.

Ray seeks monetary relief between $250,00 and $1 million, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Cameron Ellis and Don Thomas, II of Ellis & Thomas PLLC in Houston.
