HOUSTON — A customer claims a greasy floor at a Saltgrass Steakhouse caused her slip and fall.

Desiree Velazco filed a complaint May 16 in Harris County District Court against Saltgrass Inc., doing business as Saltgrass Steakhouse and Landry's G.P., Inc., alleging negligence.

Velazco, according to her complaint, was at the Saltgrass Steak House on Katy Freeway in Houston on June 21, 2021. She claims that as she was walking near the restroom/kitchen area, she slipped on a "wet/greasy" substance that was on the floor. Velazco alleges she fell onto her knees and right shoulder and suffered injuries. She claims Saltgrass' negligence for creating the slippery condition and failing to place caution signs or barriers in the area to warn guests.

The plaintiff also claims Saltgrass was negligent for failing to make the condition safe and for not inspecting their premises and correcting the dangerous condition. She alleges that as a result of her slip and fall, she also suffered impairment, mental anguish and incurred medical treatment expenses.

Velazco seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million and all other just relief. She is represented by Sofia Straus of The Law Office of Domingo Garcia LLP in Houston.
