GALVESTON — A Liberty County man is facing a claim he breached a lease and loan agreement and owes more than $70,000.

605 Bradford LLC, Vic Matthews and Archie Patterson filed a complaint June 6 in Galveston County District Court against Melvin Ray Walker and Matthew Ryan Walker alleging breach of contract.

According to the plaintiffs' complaint, 605 Bradford LLC and Walker Hospitality entered into a lease agreement for a property in Kemah in January of 2020. They claim the lease agreement was a 36-month lease with monthly rental payments of $7,500.

The plaintiffs further claim the defendants have not made timely monthly payments of rent, defaulted and filed for bankruptcy protection. They allege that in October of 2020, the defendants executed a promissory note for $75,000 with monthly installments over three years which is also in default. The plaintiffs claim the defendants owe them $54,829.45 under the lease default and $72,956.39 plus $3,450.40 in unpaid interest for the promissory note default.

The plaintiffs seek monetary relief of $250,000 or less, interest and all other just relief. They are represented by Kyle Dickson and Philip Nolen of Murray/Lobb PLLC in Houston.
