Woman alleges trash, debris left outside her apartment cause her fall

HOUSTON — A woman alleges trash and debris left outside of her apartment in Houston caused her to trip and fall. 

Jennifer Hamilton filed a complaint June 8 in Harris County District Court against Globix Suset Crossing LLC doing business as Sunset Crossing Apartments alleging premises liability. 

Hamilton, according to her complaint was a resident at the defendant's Sunset Crest Apartments in Houston on July 16, 2020, and requires a cane/walker for assistance. She alleges that as she and her husband were on the way to their vehicle, she fell over trash and debris that was left outside the front door and on the walkway of her apartment. Hamilton claims she tripped and fell over the debris and suffered injuries. 

She alleges the defendant failed to warn her of the dangerous condition outside her apartment and that the defendant's employees breached their duty to her and failed to fix the hazard. Hamilton further alleges she suffered disabling injuries, lost wages and incurred medical care expenses as a result of her trip and fall.  

Hamilton seeks monetary relief or more than $250,000, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Maverick Ray and Matthew Marzak of Maverick Ray & Associates.
