Electrician claims lack of safety protocols caused his fall off 14 foot ladder

Lawsuits

HOUSTON — An electrician alleges lack of safety protocols and compliance with OSHA standards caused his fall from a 14 foot ladder.

Antonio Rodriguez filed a complaint June 13 in Harris County District Court against New Age Electric LLC and Markel Insurance Company alleging negligence.

Rodriguez, a 54-year old maintenance electrician, was working for New Age on June 25, 2020, according to his complaint. He claims that while he was using a 14 foot ladder to perform his duties, he fell to the ground and suffered fractures on both of his ankles which required surgical repair. Rodriguez alleges that New Age failed to comply with OSHA regulations to provide a hazardous free workplace and did not provide any personal protective equipment for its workers.

He further alleges New Age failed to properly inspect the ladder and ensure that the tools and equipment was safe and maintained. Rodriguez claims New Age did not provide safety training language in terms employees could understand and did not have proper safety procedures in place or communicate them to its workers. He also claims as a result of his fall, he suffered lost earnings and incurred medical treatment expenses.

Rodriguez seeks monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Larry Johnson of The Law Offices of Larry Johnson & Associates in Houston.
